About Me
Kevin "Friar" Babcock, MDiv, MBA
I am a seasoned pastor with twenty-five years of experience. Based just outside of Philadelphia, I am I a clergy member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. My pastoral service includes serving as a Hospital and Hospice Chaplain, Youth Pastor, Church Pastor, Church Planter and Developer, and as the Conference Coordinator of Congregational Support Services. My ministerial style is relaxed and casual. My leadership style is grounded in mission complemented by a good sense of humor.
I have a strong dislike of meetings and committees because they all too often serve as a substitute for mission and ministry. Also, they sometimes lead people to take the church more seriously than their faith. The church is indeed serious business but doesn’t need to be taken too seriously: Just seriously enough to follow Jesus and serve the community.
My passion is for empowering churches to meet the demands of mission and ministry in the 21st century. In addition to being trained in ministry and missional effectiveness, I am cross trained in nonprofit administration including: Leadership Development, Operational Vitality, Financial Management, and Marketing among others.
A few years ago, a life-threatening medical crisis forced me to medically retire from the ministry. Now that I am no longer in active ministry service, I am returning to my personal spirituality of living a simple and quiet contemplative, sacramental, and devotional way of life rooted in faith, family, friends, and community. Until we meet again, let's stay connected. You can find me on Facebook, or you can just email me. I look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings and love,
+Kevin
